Kaylie and Jarod's Wedding
OUR STORY

August 2020
Kaylie & Jarod met at the Baptist Student Ministry (BSM) during Howdy Week, right before the start of their first semester at Texas A&M University! Here they joined separate groups at the BSM freshman Bible study. While they were in different Bible study groups, Kaylie's roommate was in the same group as Jarod, and that's how they met each other! Because COVID-19 meant classes were all virtual, the group of mutual friends had time to hang out in Hullabaloo and the BSM nearly every day.

Summer 2023
As the summer before their senior year rolled around, Jarod's mission trip fell through and he ended up staying in College Station. Kaylie also stayed in College Station and continued to work and take classes. They both went to their church Bible study and would often hang out throughout the week with their college group. Since it was summer, it was a smaller group, which allowed them to hang out more. Here they started to two-step together at Harry's and help teach people in the church parking lot.

Their first date was at Lake Bryan... they got coffee, hiked, colored, and even played with bubbles!! They both enjoyed the date so much that they continued to do lots of nature dates following, like this picture from Enchanted Rock State Park, where they went for spelunking (exploring caves)!

Fall 2023
Through the rest of their fall semester, Kaylie and Jarod continue to go on many dates, be each others two-stepping partner, go to every A&M game together, and even study together! It was a fun semester of cooking dinners, watching movies, playing games, and getting to know each other even more.

By May, Jarod knew Kaylie was the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with! They had many conversations talking about marriage, and the day after Jarod graduated, he sat down with Kaylie's parents. They ate at The Kettle and talked about various things until Jarod got the courage to ask if he could marry their daughter! After a long moment of silence, and them deciding if they should mess with him, they said they were so for it!
To be continued ... for the rest of our lives!!!
Fall 2021
Throughout college, Kaylie & Jarod continued to stay friends! They would see each other every Monday at Aggie BSM meetings and many Wednesday lunches, where they would often sit together! They even started going to the same church and would study together with their friends Andrew and Sammy! Over these years, they enjoyed being in the same group, but were not super close.

Summer 2023
By mid-summer, Jarod started to like his dance partner and started to flirt with her! He did things like only dancing with her, sneaking food into her house, and even surprising her with coffee for exams! Now Kaylie may have been a bit oblivious before realizing that Jarod was actually flirting... He ended up texting her roommate so she could also drop Kaylie hints! This picture is when Jarod asked Kaylie on their first date after ice skating!

After a couple of weeks of going on dates, Kaylie and Jarod sat down, had some coffee, and talked about officially dating! They set their boundaries, what they expected from the relationship, and shared more about themselves!

Spring 2024

Their spring semester was challenging but brought them closer to each other! Both encountered many trials, from the passing of Jarod's father to stress about their futures, but the Lord brought them through it! In the process, they got to learn how to lean on one another, comfort each other, and push into the unknown together.

It took some time and a lot of help from friends for Jarod to plan the engagement and get the ring, but he managed and even didn't spill the plan! Two months later, Kaylie was sent on a scavenger hunt around College Station/Bryan to memorable locations of their relationship. It ended at Lake Bryan (location of their first date), where Jarod was waiting. He proposed to Kaylie and shockingly, she said YES!! *insert eye roll from Kaylie because the decision was a no-brainer for her!*
